The Pensive Artist

In this painting, I used light and composition to tell the story of this artist and by extension, my story. The subject is an artist, seated at the left side of the painting. Her face is quite dimly lit intended to tell her downcast mood, as she stares into nothingness, pensive and unsure.

On the right side of the painting (the more illuminated part of the room), there is a hand outstretched from her easel, her place of solace, reaching out to her, hoping she turns back to her art. Offering tulips as if to say, everything good will come.

PS. I used the red and green to also symbolize the market, artists like me fell into some sort of introspection, and doubt when the market is in red, with backs turned, forgetting the big wins we had when it was in green.
